The type of fear in relation to limiting personal development such as the fear of failure or the fear of letting others down is most often focused on the future opposed to the present. You cannot have a troubled mind and expect the rest of your body to work as if it is a machine. To reach our full potential and goals in life, we must have a pure heart, mind, body, and soul; not one component can be missing, or the system just doesn’t work. Fear creates problems in which are not existing in the present. Fears are in fact very real; however, are derived from your imagination by combining all the worst possible outcomes and creating them into a mentality. Someone who is fearless, to me, has not necessarily eliminated all fear in their life; instead, they have come to terms with how to leverage it and become aware that it is in fact there with its base most often in the future.

Another potential way to categorize the fear of failure could be an over excessive want to succeed. They say everything in moderation— even too much of something so positive such as the want to succeed can be harmful to your body, mind, and soul.

Two key ideas we must remember:

  1. There is a time and place for everything — understanding that if something doesn’t work out the way you wanted it was for a reason and that your time to excel is on its way.

—> Although this is not true in every given circumstance, this type of positive thinking can be used to ease the mind.

  2. Do not forget about the journey while you are heading to your desired destination

—> Journeys are filled with both the good and the bad and these experiences allow you to gain lessons in which help you to reach your desired destination. Try your best in the moment and learn from all the lessons that come with the experience.

A quote by Sadhguru, an Indian yogi, mystic, and author, really made me think of fear in another way. The quote reads:

One part of the mind is memory and the other part of it is imagination. Both of them are in one way imagination because both of them don’t exist right now. You are lost in your imagination, that is the basis of your fear. If you were rooted in reality, there would be no fear.
— Sadhguru

Below are two ideas based on the concept of fear:

Even if the world is not kind to him, his mind should be kind to him. At least that much every human being deserves
